We are please pleased to announce that our Transaid Christmas Appeal with Motor Transport raised a grand total of £7,000! This is a fantastic achievement which will really benefit our vital work in Africa.
Funds raised from this appeal will support our continued work such as our Professional Driver Training Project in Zambia which is dramatically increasing the standards of driver training, and our project in Northern Nigeria which is implementing an emergency transport scheme to improve access to healthcare facilities for women and children. Unfortunately the rate of death during pregnancy and childbirth in Sub Saharan Africa is still 1 in 13, compared to 1 in 4,084 in the western world, which is largely due to the limited availability of emergency transport enabling women to get to healthcare facilities in time.
Transaid would therefore like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated and a special thank you to Motor Transport for helping us raise these funds.
